ASU Brings Native Theater to Havasupai

Share

School Information

Students and facilitators participate in a Native theater arts workshop at Havasupai Elementary School.

Havasupai Elementary School partnered with Arizona State University and welcomed the ASU Native Nation Theater Project on campus. This multi-day summer program brought professional Native theater artists to the Havasupai community to support student voice, creativity, and cultural expression.

Through collaboration between ASU’s Office of Tribal Nations Advancement and the Native Nation Theater Project team, Havasupai students gained hands-on experience in performance, writing, movement, and collaborative storytelling. The program provided a culturally grounded learning opportunity for Havasupai youth and built long-term connections between the school and ASU’s Indigenous creative community.

This partnership uplifted students, honored Indigenous stories, and celebrated the powerful role of the arts in education.
