Overview
Havasupai Elementary School—located in the beautiful Supai Village—is the learning environment for the children of the “People of the Blue-Green Water.” We guide our K—8th-grade students through different stages of elementary education, nurturing their abilities to imagine, invent and create. Havasupai's educational program provides various opportunities to develop children into caring, responsible and respectful graduates.
Enchanted Engineering (K - 2)
As students are introduced to classroom instruction, their imaginations will enhance their learning process. Havasupai Elementary School understands that early childhood education means teaching ideas and concepts using subjects with which they are most familiar. Fairy tales and other enchanting children’s stories and games allow students to discover the foundational principles of problem-solving and engineering.
Tinker Camp (3 - 5)
Experience with engineering concepts allows students to participate in science, technology, engineering and mathematics projects. Our students participating in Tinker Camp participate in hands-on STEM programs as they learn to collaborate with classmates, develop and test new ideas, and practice their math and science skills as they solve problems. Students are being prepared for a 21st-century education, career and life.
FUN-da-MENTAL (6 - 8)
By the time students graduate from Havasupai Elementary School, they have used the same knowledge and skills as architects, scientists, inventors and engineers. The FUN–da-MENTAL Program allows students to participate in various building and construction projects that increase life skills and complement their core academics. Students and the entire school community benefit from these comprehensive and diverse extracurricular activities.
Athletic/PE Programs
Athletics and P.E. programs develop the mind, body and spirit of each student. Physical education involves remaining active throughout the school day and learning about health and nutrition. Sports competitions increase confidence, build character and teach the principles of sportsmanship and leadership. The Havasupai school community unites while supporting its student-athletes. Students must have good grades and attendance to participate in sports.
Special Education
Havasupai Elementary School meets the unique requirements of all its students. Faculty and staff closely monitor the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs of students so that appropriate services, accommodations or interventions can be provided. Special education services ensure that every student with a learning challenge receives the necessary attention to succeed. We aim to ensure that every student learns, engages, interacts and advances at the appropriate rate.
Timeless Teaching in a Changing World
Havasupai Elementary School is dedicated to teaching with an evidence-based curriculum, using the College and Career Readiness and Next Generation Science Standards. Students participate in project-based learning and use web-based technologies to increase their academic proficiency in all subject areas.
