Students Present Science Fair Projects on Erosion and Cloud Formation

Havasupai Elementary School in Supai, Arizona, proudly shared its 2nd‑ and 3rd‑grade science fair projects through the SARSEF Virtual Fair. Under Mr. Sorvino's guidance, students completed hands-on class experiments.

"Cloud Machine" explained the water cycle and how clouds are formed. The students followed the scientific method and used KWL (Know, Wonder, Learn) charts to document their investigations into the effect of air temperature on cloud formation.

"All Washed Up" discussed flash flooding and ground erosion. The students and young scientists drew on their own experiences of seeing a monsoon flood their community and the Grand Canyon last year. They built a small-scale erosion model and discussed possible prevention methods.

The class earned an impressive 3rd‑place award in the group category for their “Cloud Machine” project and the Lee and Jack Mayer Memorial Award for Excellence in Science for "All Washed Up." Their entries are now on display on the SARSEF website, showcasing the creativity and scientific curiosity of Havasupai students.
